Jazzercise comes to Colonial Park!

Jazzercise classes will begin September 2 at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday & Thursday evening in the CLC.  Jazzercise is a 60-minute workout of dance & muscle toning movements choreographed to today’s hottest music.  Instructors make the class fun & easy-to-follow.  Every class includes a gentle warm up, 30-minute aerobic workout, muscle toning & strengthening segment with weights, & a stretch finale.

 Yoga Classes at Colonial Park

 

We're shaking things up a bit at Colonial Park. We are offering Yoga classes on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at 5:30 in the CLC.  Yoga, as typically practiced in the West, is a practice used to attain union of the mind-body-spirit through a practice of yoga postures and breathing.  Yoga is not a religion, but a spiritual practice and does not require a specific belief system to participate.  The philosophies of yoga are universal and can be incorporated within any belief system.  Yoga can be done by anyone at any physical level and requires little to no equipment.  The classes are open to everyone and are completely funded though donations, so I encourage you all to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.  Typical Yoga studios charge up to $20 per class here in the Memphis area, so stop by and take advantage of one of the many great things Colonial Park UMC has to offer.

 Colonial Park Healthy Living Challenge

Join the Colonial Park Healthy Living Summer Challenge.  Colonial Park has started a summer-long program where we will be focusing on total wellness.   We are again offering our walking program that will have designated times to walk in the CLC & several group walks along with a nutritional guide.  The goal is for all participants to exercise at least 3 times a week for 30 minutes.   We will track our progress on a chart that is displayed by the CLC, & for every participant that reaches their fitness goal at the end of the summer, we will make a donation to the Church Health Center.

Aerobic Dancing  - An aerobic workout that tones every major muscle group,
strengthens the heart, slims your figure and leaves you feeling exhilarated. 
Aerobic dancing isn’t like other typical aerobic workouts because you feel
like your dancing rather than exercising.  You can vary the level of your workout
to best suite your needs.  The first class is free and there is a senior discount.

Classes meet in the Christian Life Center Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday from 8:30 – 9:30 am.

Limbersize- A stretching and toning workout for anyone wanting to stay active. 
You can vary the level of resistance and stretching you want to match your
physical capabilities.  We meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from
11:30 am – Noon in the Fellowship Hall.  Cost – Free.

Walking- Why go to the mall and fight the crowds when Colonial Park is right
around the corner?  Special time is reserved in the Christian Life Center every
day for those who would like to walk.  Every weekday from 10:30 – 11:30 am
come in out of the cold and get your blood pumping.  

Free Yoga Classes

Tina Thomas and Cathy Thordarson teach Yoga in the Christian Life Center every Monday and Thursday evening @ 5:30 p.m.  The classes are open to everyone and can be adjusted to meet your own personal fitness level.  Mats are provided and the classes are FREE, so join us!
